In 2016 Sleaford town received a Fairtrade sign to represent being a town that supports Fairtrade. St Georges Academy did much work to help this happen, and so is something the school can be proud of.
In June 2010 the Fairtrade Foundation acknowledged that Sleaford was to become a Fairtrade Town. On 3rd July, Debbie Wrightson, the Chair of the Sleaford Fairtrade Group and Manager of Sainsbury's, presented the Mayor, Councilor Jack Collings, with the Fairtrade Town certificate. Philip Ingram-Jannetta, Jordan Day and Callum Thursby represented the Academy. It has been a long journey on which the College and now Academy have played a full part.
They had 5 Goals to meet for Sleaford to become a Fairtrade Town. Following the meeting on 31st March 2009 at St George's Academy we had the support of Sainsbury's, Lincolnshire Co-op, Mellow Moments, Mother Nature, The Source, The Hub, Second Chance coffee shop and a number of other retailers.
