Raising Awareness: The 'One Punch' Campaign at St George’s Academy

St George’s Academy was privileged to welcome Paul from the One Punch Campaign to speak with our students — delivering a powerful and thought-provoking message about the devastating consequences that can result from a single moment of lost control.

Throughout this academic year, all students will take part in assemblies and educational sessions designed to highlight the dangers and seriousness of throwing just one punch. The campaign addresses a unique and often misunderstood phenomenon: the severe and life-altering outcomes that can result from what may seem like a split-second decision.

What makes these incidents especially tragic is that both victims and perpetrators are frequently individuals who have never been in trouble with the law. A single lapse in judgement — often in the heat of the moment — can lead to irreversible consequences, not only for the victim but also for the person who threw the punch.

The programme will include a series of talks from external agencies, as well as interactive workshops aimed at educating and equipping students with strategies to manage conflict, emotions, and peer pressure as they transition into adulthood. These sessions will run alongside our Life Skills programme, ensuring students continue to receive a broad and balanced education that supports their wider personal development.

We are proud to be part of this crucial initiative and grateful to Paul for sharing his experiences in support of the campaign.
