Oliver Batt, 19

Attended: Sleaford Campus
"I was encouraged by my catering teacher to enter cooking competitions which led me to being offered work experience in a 2 Michelin starred restaurant in 2021, from this I was offered a full time job. I love what I do, I’m learning lots, working hard & meeting people from all over the world including celebrities! I also get to work with Raymond Blanc (see photo - Oliver pictured in black face mask)"

James, 26

Attended: Sleaford Campus
"I studied Uniformed Public Services, which was fun & I learned a lot. It definitely helped me to plan a career in this field. I also became an Apprentice Caretaker at St George's before joining the Army in 2019. Since the pandemic, travel has started to pick up, I've been on exercise to Germany & will be deployed again later this year. I have kept in touch with teachers & support staff & hope to come back to talk to the Public Service students about life in the Forces."

Ellis Karran

News Reporter, The Lincolnite
Attended: Sleaford Campus 2008-2015
"I developed a passion for writing & media while at school, that prompted me to pursue a career in journalism. After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University, I went on to do freelance work for BBC Radio Lincolnshire, as well as graduating from the BBC's Kick Off Reporter Scheme. I have worked at The Lincolnite for over two years now. I could not have made it where I have without the guidance of staff at St George's & the facilities that allowed me to express myself."

Jemma Weatherall, 18

Policing Degree Course, Lincoln College
Attended: Ruskington Campus
"I recently undertook a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniform Protective Services which has led to me going on to study a policing degree as I plan to sign up for the Police Force."

Wesley

Pilot, Royal Air Force
Attended: Sleaford Campus 1992-1999
"Since leaving St George's in 1999, I joined the Royal Air Force as a Pilot and to date have served over 18 years. My journey has taken me all over the world on multiple exercises, deployments and combat operations."

Joshua Cullen

Civil Aviation, DHL, East Midlands
Attended: Sleaford Campus until 2015
"I left Sixth Form & went on a month trip to the Canadian Rockies before beginning work life. I applied for the RAF before changing my mind & going towards the Civil Aviation sector at London Heathrow. After two years I came back to Lincolnshire where I applied for the RAF again unfortunately failing at the medical stage. I settled back into Civil Aviation & started working for DHL at East Midlands Airport. Unfortunately in December 2020 I suffered a seizure at work & was diagnosed with Terminal Brain Cancer. Since then I have undergone 6 weeks of radiotherapy & chemotherapy & another 6 months of chemotherapy at a higher dose but lower frequency. My doctors have told me I may not be able to do anything strenuous as I did in aviation but I am slowly working myself back into a normal routine & getting out of the house more."

James Lefley

Doctoral Student, University of Warwick
Attended: Sleaford Campus until 2015
"After leaving Sixth Form in 2015 off the back of decent A-Level results. I began studying at Newcastle University undertaking a Bachelors degree in Chemistry. I graduated in 2018 & spent the following year road tripping around Africa & working for the National Trust in various capacities. I then enrolled at the University of Warwick to study for a Masters in Polymer & Materials Chemistry. I was offered an exciting opportunity of an industry-sponsored PhD with Infineum UK, a joint venture between the oil & gas corporations of Shell & ExxonMobil. I am currently in my final year of doctoral study with the hope of this giving me the opportunity to go anywhere and do anything I set my mind to. Be it in the petrochemical industry, academia, or something completely new."

Dan Reynolds

Project Manager, Aviation Division
Attended: Sixth Form until 2010
"I studied Maths, Chemistry, Physics & IT at A Level, before going onto University to get a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. Whilst at University I undertook a couple of placements for my current employer, VolkerFitzpatrick. Most noticeably working on the Olympic village for the 2012 Olympic games. In 2015, I moved from the company's infrastructure team into their more specialist aviation division. This led to me working for the MOD home & abroad, including 6 months working in the Ascension Island to repair the airfield. I have worked all over the UK on a variety of schemes which have all been their own unique challenge. In my 8 years with the company I have gone from working as a Site Engineer to a Project Manager & through training schemes I have obtained Chartered Civil Engineer Status with the Institute of Civil Engineers."

ABM as a Marketing Executive which I love. It's not related to what I thought I would be doing in my future but I wouldn't change it for the world. My job has allowed me to move to London, see new places & have opportunities I never thought possible; including being a PA in The Queen's Private Office. St George's provided me with a great education & I would like to personally give a shout out to Mrs Griffiths who believed I could do anything I set my mind to & guided me along the way."
