European Day of Languages
The ‘European Day of Languages’ was a tremendous success!
There were lots of events going on around the Academy, all aimed at raising the profile of language learning and a lifelong love of languages. There were activities happening over both Campus’ including library displays and quizzes, tapas in the canteen at lunchtime, staff dressed up, an inter-house design a postcard competition and of course our annual video. Students also enjoyed language activities in many of their lessons, for example learning about music as a language and in Public Services the students were taught in Spanish. Lots of fun was had by all!
Also the Year 7 pupils really excelled themselves with a fantastic bake off. All the participants put a huge amount of effort into their European Day of Languages themed cakes and cupcakes. Paul Hollywood would be giving handshakes all over the place!
A huge thank you to all of the Year 7 tutors for promoting the event, Mrs Williams for undertaking the really difficult task of judging, our little helpers who sold the cakes at break and lunchtime and of course all of our super-talented Year 7 bakers. All the proceedings will go to the Macmillan Cancer Support. Stay calm and eat cake!
