Our Greenpower team have had their first race of the season and what an eventful day it was. We had many unfortunate incidents from punctures, to miscommunication, to spinning out. This was to be expected with a very new team of drivers who had yet to experience a racetrack.
Race one saw one of the cars struggle to get off the starting line due to some technical issues, but we managed a respectful 5th in Sirocco with 37 miles and 6th in Zephyr with 36.65 miles. A reshuffle for race two saw a change with both cars starting well. First/second place was looking possible until a stone punctured the tyre of Zephyr resulting in some slow laps and a lengthy pit stop to fix it. Sirocco on the other hand was in excellent hands, with Jess in complete control and putting in 24 laps which only deviated by 2 seconds either side of 1 min 45 secs. That is some impressive driving. Phoebe and Emma then backed her up in the second half of the race to complete 44.9 miles and finished a lap ahead of any other car on track. This resulted in our furthest ever distance achieved in a Greenpower race and we beat two previous season Champions.
Congratulations on a fantastic start to the season!
