The Academy functions with safeguarding as a priority. All staff are trained regularly and very clear procedures are in place as stated in our policy.
The Academy follows the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Board and have close relationships with all agencies.
Students are guided through our Life Skills programme to be aware of dangers and encouraged to talk.
Extremism & Radicalisation:
Our safeguarding policy covers protecting and educating our students against extremism and radicalisation. This is covered in our Life Skills work and we provide parents with an information leaflet which can be viewed online here.
Concerns are reported in the same way as any other safeguarding concern as stated in our policy.
Internet Safety is highlighted as a concern and so we have our own Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) trained expert, Mr G Walker and Mrs C Cox, who leads assemblies and parent sessions regularly at the Academy. This is a Life Skills topic covered by all students during the year. We also have an annual Cyber-bullying Awareness Week.
The Academy internet service is filtered. We monitor usage to ensure that all accessed content is appropriate.
At St George’s we uphold traditional British values driven through assemblies and across the curriculum. Full details can be found here.
"Keep them safe" is a free online learning tool from Pace and Virtual College which has been accessed by more than 29,000 parents and professionals (as of March 2016).
Although the course is aimed at parents, safeguarding professionals will also find this 20-30 minute e-learning training course a valuable source of information.
