Once again, the Academy has celebrated a year of amazing sporting success. Despite COVID causing many events, fixtures and competitions to be cancelled or postponed, the students showed determination to get back out there to show off their sporting talents. To celebrate this, we recently held our annual Sports Presentation event, again due to COVID, the in person live event could not be held but the PE staff took their trusted mini bus on tour visiting the winners and handing out their awards door to door.
Miss Cox (Head of Sport) commented, “Despite being cancelled due to COVID restrictions, the PE department were determined to ensure Sports Presentation Evening went ahead this year, just in a slightly different format! As always, the achievements of our students in Sport and Physical Education were exceptional during the 20/21 academic year; there was no way that COVID was stopping our successes! Annual achievement awards this year were awarded via a video link in tutor time and students collected these from the PE Department. To present the main awards, the PE department embarked on a secret delivery service, arriving at students houses with trophies and of course, the camera! The virtual Sports Presentation Evening video showcases all award winners from all year groups – I am sure you will be equally impressed by how many of them there are! Huge congratulations to all students receiving awards – hopefully we will see you in person next year!”
