This term has been a busy one for the music and drama departments. We saw the culmination of months of hard work as we staged our production of Grease. The cast and band did a fantastic job of telling the story of Sandy, played by Heather, and Danny, played by Ben.
We also held our Choir Festival, which saw choirs from local primary schools performing alongside vocal groups from across our Sleaford and Ruskington Campuses. Hearing all 200 children singing together was a heart-warming experience!
We were very excited to take two of our ensembles to perform at the National Music for Youth Festival in Birmingham. Our key stage four rock band, Monday Morning, performed on the takeover stage at the CBSO centre and their rendition of Final Countdown had everyone clapping along. The Sixth Form Harmony group performed three pieces at the Town Hall, one of which was an original song written by Alana with help from Macy. The music mentors mentioned this as a highlight from the session, complimenting Alana’s style and creativity.
Finally, we had our Battle of the Bands event, which saw some key stage three bands battle to be crowned winners. To end the term, our year 12 students toured some local primary schools with a live music concert.
It has been fantastic to finally be able to hold these live events again and share the many talents of our students!
