Three teams of Year 10 and 12 students took part in Dr Caroline Johnson MP’s Constituency Policy Debate competition.
The competition challenged students to present, defend, and respond to questioning on a piece of proposed legislation. They had to think on their feet, speak with clarity and confidence, and engage in respectful but robust debate — all under pressure and in front of an audience. We are delighted to announce that our Year 10 team from the Sleaford Campus won in their age group! They faced tough competition from various other schools, and especially from our own Ruskington team, so this made their success even more impressive.
This achievement reflects our academy’s strong commitment to developing oracy. We believe that confident speaking and attentive listening are essential life skills that empower students to express themselves, deepen their understanding, and prepare them for future success.
Dr Caroline Johnson will be taking our debate topics to Parliament – a huge achievement for all of competitors! We are immensely proud of them!
