Futures Week

June 3rd to 7th saw Year 10 Futures Week taking place at both campuses with a wide variety of talks and workshops designed to inform and inspire. Students started the week with a session with Luke Staton, a motivational speaker and life coach followed by talks and activities from Sleaford Joint Sixth Form staff about studying their subject and related career paths. We also had outside speakers come in to give an insight into their career path, Lincolnshire Police, Currys, East Midlands Ambulance, the Royal Navy, Access Creative College and the University of Lincoln Law School. Possibly the most challenging activity for students were the Elevator pitches – students were asked to prepare a 3 minute presentation all about themselves – their hobbies, interests, plans and dreams. There were plenty of nerves beforehand but afterwards the vast majority of students said how much they enjoyed it. One of the visitors we invited in to listen to these pitches said ‘The event was a roaring success in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting such interesting, engaging young people, who were a credit to the school’. Futures Week was a great success with extremely positive feedback from both students and visitors.
