Ruskington Parish Council

This morning, Councillor Owen Ditch, a representative from Ruskington Parish Council, visited St George's Academy at the Ruskington campus. He met with student representatives from years 7 to 10. Earlier in the year, during our Kindness Campaign, students in each year group raised money through activities such as sponsored swims, sponsored silence, temporary tattoos, football penalty shootouts, and a Year 9-led London Mini Marathon around the school field (2.62 miles).
Councillor Ditch informed us that storm Babet struck Ruskington on Friday, 20 October, leading to village flooding. RPC members, staff, and the community came together to distribute sandbags, check on residents, and provide shelter and refreshments.
Councillor Ditch asked the students why they decided to donate the money they raised to Ruskington Parish Council. They explained that they knew individuals directly affected by the floods and recognized the fundamental role the council played in assisting those families.
The students presented Councillor Ditch with a cheque for £428.63 to support the flood fund. They expressed their desire for the money to assist those who lost possessions in the flood and to aid in future flood prevention efforts.
Councillor Ditch thanked all the students on behalf of the council, noting that the donation would be gratefully received.
