Additional Funding

Uniform / Sports Kit

If your child is currently eligible for free school meals, you will need to contact the Academy in June to request a uniform voucher to take in to our suppliers (Uniform Direct) in the lead up to September to exchange for full uniform for the following academic year.  This does not include shoes, or school bag.  Please note, we cannot reimburse parents retrospectively for any uniform purchased on behalf of their child.

Shoes

If your child is currently eligible for free school meals and needs shoes urgently through the school year, these can be organised via the Key Stage Office.  Please ask your child to go to the Key Stage Office if this is the case, and they will point them in the right direction to get these sorted.  Please note, we cannot reimburse parents retrospectively for any footwear purchased on behalf of their child.

Stationary / Other Equipment

If your child is currently eligible for free school meals and requires any stationary or equipment through the year, please ask them to see the Key Stage Learning Mentor who will organise this for them.  Please note, we cannot reimburse parents retrospectively for any equipment purchased on behalf of their child.

Curriculum Visits

If funding is available for curriculum visits for eligible students, there will be a tick-box on the reply slip for parents to request financial support.  Where this is indicated on the reply slip, we will fund this directly via parentpay.  Please note, there are some enrichment visits (for example, the ski trip) where we are not able to provide funding for eligible students.  Where there is not a tick-box on the reply slip, unfortunately funding is not available.

Revision guides / Workbooks

We provide many revision guides and workbooks for all eligible students within the Academy, and we are happy to fund additional revision guides for students should they be required.  If this is the case, students are encouraged to request these from their ASPM / ASKM or their Key Stage Learning Mentor.

Transport for after-school and revision sessions

We are happy to provide transport where this is needed for students to access after-school / Easter study and revision sessions.  If this is the case, students are encouraged to request this from their ASPM / ASKM or their Key Stage Learning Mentor.

Music Lessons where Studied at KS4 as an Examination Subject

When students study music at KS4, it is incredibly beneficial for them to have additional music lessons in order to strengthen the performance aspect of their examination.  Therefore, where eligible students choose to study music as an option, we fund music lessons for them to remove the financial burden from parents.  This is funded centrally via parentpay.

Financial Support for Y11 Prom

As a reward and celebration for students’ achievement in Year 11, we host a Prom for those who have met certain criteria after the examinations.  Prom tickets and outfits can place an extra financial burden on parents of eligible students, and we don’t want students to worry about this in the midst of their examinations.  As a result, we fund Prom tickets for eligible students, and also make a contribution towards the cost of their outfit, to remove any unnecessary pressure at a critical time.

Post-16 Transport Pass

If your child is currently eligible for free school meals, require transport to school, and they are planning to stay on into the sixth form - you will receive a letter in June providing details of how to go about accessing the funding for a post-16 transport pass.  We fully fund post-16 transport passes for students who are currently eligible for free school meals.  Please note, we cannot reimburse parents retrospectively for any transport pass that is purchased on behalf of their child.

Post-16 Bursary to Support Dress Code and Study Resources

We appreciate that buying clothing to meet with our post-16 dress code can be costly, and so we provide a post-16 bursary to students who are currently eligible for free school meals.  This is also available for other students who may not be eligible, but require additional financial support.  There is an application process in place for the post-16 bursary and information relating to this is shared with students as they start in our sixth form.  This can also support the cost of any specialised equipment they may need to support their studies.
