Futures - Year 11

In Year 11 pupils start to explore:

  • CVs and cover letters
  • Interview skills
  • Exploring personal strengths
  • Careers Fair

By now many of you will hopefully be used to Unifrog and have some data recorded already and started researching for your future.

If you are new to the school or have not yet come across or used Unifrog then please complete the below. It is also handy for those of you that completed this in early years to retake some of the profiles to see what has changed. Remember to push the original to your locker for safe keeping.

Complete the following to find out abit about yourself and for Unifrog to understand you abit more.

Interests Profile –this is to gain information about what you do and don’t like. For further details and to take you to the instructions on what to do click here.

NB: If you have already completed these in previous years you can do them again at any time, you can also push the results to your locker and see how you change over the years!

Personality Profile – this is a personality test. Answer the questions as honestly as you can from the multiple choice selection.  For further information about Personality Profiles and Instructions on what to do click here.

NB: If you have already completed this you can take it again at any time again you can push the results to your locker and see how you and your ideas change over the years!

Now is a really good time to revisit the Subject and Careers Library too….

Subjects Library – here you can enter the subjects that you like or would like to take and it will suggest what careers these could lead to. For further information on the subjects library and instructions on what to do click here.

If you know the Career that you are heading for, you can look it up here to see what A levels or BTEC courses you might need to take. If you know, it is worth still taking a look in the Careers Library to make sure you are on track. You can also have a look at what qualifications they will be looking for and whether you can go straight from doing A levels or BTECs or whether you will need a University degree. You can also look up the course you may want to do at university to see what grades you will need to get on your chosen course and what A levels are required.

Careers Library – here you can enter the type of career you would like and it will give you more detailed information about that career and the subjects you need to take, the qualifications you need to get such a job etc. For further information on the Careers Library and instructions on what to do click here.

Searching your next steps after sixth form or college….

Feel free to take a look at any of the above to help you decide on the A levels you might need to get on your chosen university course…..

If you are looking at studying A levels with a view to going onto University you can go to the UK University tool to look up the types of courses available, the different universities and also what grades you need to be achieving in order to get on your selected course.  Once you have done this you can also start taking a look at your chosen universities and what they offer, and the grades they expect you to achieve.

There is also an Apprenticeship tool if you are looking to get an Apprenticeship and you can find jobs here as it is linked to the website and regularly updated. There is also a CV writing tool on Unifrog to help you write that winning CV. You can also email this to at anytime and we will be happy to have a look over it for you and help with any queries.

You can also search for sixth form and colleges here too.

Other things to be doing:

If you have not started doing this through the lower years then now would be a really good time to start putting in some activities and competencies. These will help in the future when writing your CV, Personal Statement or attending interviews. It is a great way of keep a record of your achievements and great work you have done.

Activities – Here you can record any of your achievements, part time jobs etc that may be relevant in the future. For further information see the Activities sheet here.

Competencies – here you want to record examples of you demonstrating each competency, see this section for more details.

There is also a ‘Locker’ – Here you can store certificates, good work, sporting achievements, prize giving etc Your teacher can also save things to your locker as well. These might be useful achievements for your future.
