The Driving Academy was introduced as a way of rewarding sixth formers for excellent work, high attendance & general good behaviour. With limited public transport, sixth formers strive for their independence, but since we are surrounded by hazardous country roads, the Academy wanted to offer students the ability to practice these life skills in the safest environment possible.
Alongside the driving lessons, the equipment is also being used to deliver special experiences within the curriculum from Public Services through to Psychology. The equipment is fully customisable allowing us to cater for a wide range of abilities, whether you are new to driving, are currently learning to drive or have even passed your test.

The course offers a range of practical topics which go beyond simply learning to drive. Some of the subjects we include are:
- The cost of driving
- General Terminology
- How to rack up points without ever driving
- Road Traffic Acts including what is a ‘Section 1’ or ‘Section 59’
- Pre-checks on a vehicle
- Guidance on buying a car
- Levels of insurance (what is excess?)
- Wear & Tear (plus general servicing)
- What to do in an accident
- What to do if you breakdown
- Safety considerations when driving solo
- Recognising road signs
Through simulation we can enhance the drivers experiences in order to raise awareness and discourage a range of other activities such as:
- Drink driving
- Text messaging whilst driving
- Tired driving
- Driving at speed
- General distractions (whether this be internal or external)
Normal driving lessons are limited, not only by location, but by the conditions on the day you have your lesson. Our software can simulate any range of environments including:
- Variable weather conditions (i.e. rain, ice, fog)
- City Driving
- Night time driving
- Motorway driving
