In line with Government guidance the Academy is planning to be fully open in September 2020. As usual, there will be staggered start with Years 7 & 12 only coming in on Wednesday 2nd September, and all students returning on Thursday 3rd September.
How we plan to return in September: (please note an updated charter and handbook will be sent to all students towards the end of the summer holiday, which will provide more detailed information).
Students will be kept in year group bubbles. Class sizes will return to normal, but students will not be facing each other. Where possible we will maintain social distancing. The one-way system will remain in place in almost every area, so that students very rarely pass face to face indoors. Each year group will have its own outdoor zone to keep year groups apart. Teachers will remain 2 meters from students so that they are in a separate bubble. We will continue to ensure regular hand washing/sanitising takes place (note: more outdoor sinks are being installed over the summer).
LCC have asked that wherever possible parents should organise for students to arrive to school by car, walk or cycle. It is important to avoid public transport where possible. If public transport is used face coverings are highly recommended. Regardless of their mode of travel, students will need to come straight onto campus on arrival and will need to go straight home at the end of the day.
The requirement for clean clothes every day has now been removed and so we can return to our normal school uniform.
Timings of the Day
As part of keeping students in their year group bubbles and supporting the mass hand washing logistics, we will be operating a staggered day but we have kept the start and finish times as close to normal as possible to support with transport. Students will begin at 8.40am or 8.45am and students will finish at 3.20pm or 3.25pm. This will require considerable logistical organisation and so student punctuality will be absolutely key throughout the day. Personalised timings of the day will be provided in the more detailed pack towards the end of the summer holiday.
If you have any immediate questions, please feel free to contact our Reception on 01529 302487 or email email@example.com
In the event of closure, the Academy will continued to provide online resources with the addition of live lessons through Microsoft Teams. Please also be aware that with the success of the new student remote portal, we will finally be retiring the old portal in September. In addition we plan to add the full Remote Desktop experience to the students available apps list alongside the Virtual File Explorer.
