St George’s Academy is a large, successful, 11-18 mixed secondary school of 2,426 students (including 362 in the sixth form and 525 on our Ruskington Campus) with outstanding facilities in all areas. The Academy serves Sleaford, Ruskington and the surrounding Lincolnshire villages.

Academy Grounds Person / Site Assistant
Salary: NJC Scale 3, pts 5-6, £21,575 to £21,968
Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (Usual working hours are 8:00 to 4:30 with a finish of 4:00 one day per week, to be agreed dependent on Academy needs)
Contract Basis: Fixed term basis of 1 year in the first instance. 
Closing Date: 9am on Wednesday 4 October 2023

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Academy Grounds Person / Site Assistant to join the existing Corporate Services team within St George’s Academy.
Reporting to the Estates Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the courtyards, beds, borders and wider external environment of the Academy to a very high standard.   
Working as part of the wider Estates team, there are frequent occasions when the team provides mutual support and/or works on projects and specific tasks.  
Key elements of the role will include responsibility for:

•    Carry out gardening duties safely, thoroughly and with the minimum amount of supervision
•    Maintaining, designing and developing the courtyards, borders and beds
•    Keeping external areas clean, tidy and presentable and to a high standard at all times.
•    Carrying out caretaking duties as directed by the Estates Manager or other designated person.
•    Carrying out minor/first fix repairs where necessary, prioritising work as appropriate, to ensure a safe environment is maintained.
You will be required to have an understanding of good manual handling techniques and experience in gardening for a company.
You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work within a team environment and to be supportive of the overall team effort.

The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of 2 GCSE’s to include English and Maths from A-C grades or equivalent or be able to demonstrate a willingness to work towards achieving these qualifications. Relevant gardening / grounds maintenance qualifications are also desirable but not essential.

ADMINISTRATION/PASTORAL ASSISTANT
Salary: NJC Scale 4, pts 7-11 £20,600 to £22,153 (actual).
Hours: 37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year 
(Usual working hours are 8:00 to 4:00 with an earlier finish of 30 minutes one day per week, to be agreed dependent on Academy needs).
Contract Basis: Permanent

We are delighted to be able to advertise the above opportunity to work alongside our existing Pastoral teams. This role will be based on our Sleaford Campus.

Key responsibilities will include supporting admissions and integration of students into Years 7-11 alongside a team of pastoral staff and providing a high level of support to students in all matters of day-to-day life beyond the classroom, with first-line concern for their social and emotional well-being.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in working with students within this age range, have excellent organisational, administrative and inter-personal skills and will work well under pressure. Ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team is essential, as are excellent keyboard skills, accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines / respond to changing circumstances.  Experience of working in a similar role is desirable but not considered essential.

APPRENTICE- LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

We are seeking to appoint four Level 3 (Advanced) Teaching Assistant Apprentices in partnership with Priory Apprenticeships.

LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT OPPORTUNITIES
Salary and Allowances: NJC Scale 1, pts 1-3, £15,217.45 to £15,633.61 (actual)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

With a focus on supporting our increasing number of students with special educational needs, we are excited to be able to offer a range of opportunities for individuals to join us in the role of Learning Support Assistant. 
Join our existing team of staff to support in this area, the roles will provide essential support in our general classrooms, in our Personalised Learning Centre and in our dedicated and specialised inclusion facility. 
You will be required to work with individual children, having special or particular needs, in accordance with the child’s statement where appropriate and/or groups of children as directed by the teacher.  You will also provide support to the teaching staff across a range of child-centred activities to promote child development and learning.
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 GCSE’s to include English and Maths from grade 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent or be able to demonstrate a willingness to work towards achieving these qualifications. The ability to travel between the two campuses is considered essential.
Providing a valuable and meaningful opportunity to support children who have difficulty in accessing their learning, the roles also support a stepping stone for those looking to progress their career. Future promotion opportunities include our Specialist and Senior LSA positions, through to our Higher Level Teaching Assistants and / or transition to our teacher training programme to become a fully qualified teacher.

Casual Worker Agreement

We are seeking to recruit reliable and highly organised individuals to assist with public examinations.

Responsibilities will include greeting and seating candidates, distribution and collection of examination papers, invigilation of examination sessions and ensuring compliance with exam board regulations at all times.

The hours would be by arrangement throughout the examination seasons.
